2026 Renault Twingo review

Cometh the time, cometh the car. With tankers queued up outside the Strait of Hormuz, F-35 Lightning contrails in the skies above Tehran and energy prices spiking, do you really want to splurge a precious tankful simply gadabouting in town?

Why not have one of these instead? And while Britain’s environmental commentariat are rather too fond of telling us to save the planet by buying more stuff, who wouldn’t want a Renault Twingo in their drive this morning, charging its little 27.5kWh battery ready for some adventure and fun as long as it’s no farther than half of its 161-mile range from your front door so you can get back for tea?

It’s the fourth use of the portmanteau name comprising Twist Swing Tango since its inauguration in 1992 on a sticker gummed to the tailgate of that mini monospace runabout designed by Jean-Pierre Ploué under the watch of Patrick Le Quément, then Renault’s chief designer.
