The heads-on-spikes are what you see first as you descend the gentle slope of Schwieberdinger Strasse. Thrust high into the sky they seem to send a stark warning to all who approach: parking infractions will not be tolerated. Perhaps I’m being melodramatic, but there is something of the ritualistically skewered head about the three cars thrust aloft on giant toothpicks.

The fact that these automotive sacrifices with enormous splinters through their sumps are positioned in the middle of a roundabout and the traffic below seems to be dancing ceremoniously around them just adds to the modern medieval tableau.
