A Month In The Life Of: BMW M5 CS

Regulars and long-term subscribers may recall that almost exactly two years ago we published a contest between all the BMW M5s that had been produced up until that time, in anticipation of the latest hybrid version to come.

We published it in three tranches, the longest single story we had or have ever done, pitching the E28, E34 and E39 in part one, the E60, F10 and F90 in part two, the idea being the winner of each would progress to a two horse final. And so it was the E34 and F90 squared up, the former in 3.8-litre, five-speed form, the latter wearing its CS battledress.

The CS won. The very same CS, I might add, as you see in these pictures. This is BMW’s own car and the chance of sourcing one from somewhere else for even a day, let alone a month seemed somewhat remote. According to the How Many Left database, there were fewer than 30 examples left in the UK at the end of last year, making them among the rarest BMWs ever to be officially sold over here.
