I sit on the thing called the Car Of The Year jury and every year around this time the organising committee circulates a list of all the longlisted cars. At which point I panic and much to the delight of my wife, the space outside the front of the house turns into an impromptu NCP as all the cars I’ve not got around to driving over the last 12 months queue up for assessment.

It’s happened every year for the 15 or so I’ve been on the jury so you’d really think I’d learn to be a bit more organised and space them out more regularly through the year. But apparently not.

What this does mean, is that the DB12 has not done very much of late. Almost nothing in fact. It’s sat there among the serried ranks of crossovers, EVs and SUVs that seem to be all anyone is interested in buying these days and I can almost feel its reproachful gaze as I walk past it yet again to drive a car just about guaranteed to be less appealing in almost every single way.
