Our Cars: DMC DeLorean

No-one, perhaps other than grammatically challenged Jedi knights and alligators, would get to spend a decade in a Floridian bog and emerge unscathed from the experience. A proposition that applies to cars as much as people.

In the first of this series you may remember that my DeLorean had previously spent a half a lifetime doing exactly that. That bog had a voracious appetite for mild steel, its Iron Giant-esque hunger rendered plain for all to see when the entire front frame section of the DeLorean tore off rather than depart its swampy home.

But depart the bog the Belfast icon finally did, towed across to Michigan for partial restoration. A year later, its rescuer/restorer/rebodger (delete as appropriate) listed the car on eBay, not having the time to complete the job. Nevertheless, the hard graft had been done, according to the eBay listing. Certainly the pictures of the underside all looked fresh and smart, so Mr Michigan had done a good job, right?

Wrong.
