Power struggle

Given my line of work, I should probably have done this a while ago. ‘This’ being a trip in an EV with a quad-digit mileage count. A proper journey in other words, long enough to make it impossible to categorise all that happened therein as mere luck, be it good or bad.

But the truth is I didn’t really want to. Not much of an excuse I know, but I know enough about myself and had had sufficient sub-optimal experiences at the hands of the UK charging network not to rush to find out more on the kind of journey where charging reliably and quickly was more than usually important.

But then a walking holiday in the Scottish Highlands coincided with the chance to drive a base model Audi e-tron GT and I realised the perfect opportunity to complete this aspect of my motoring education was before me, because if it all went horribly, catastrophically wrong I’d always be on home turf and would therefore always have options.
