When cultures collide…

One of the most fascinating things about car culture is its innate ability to transcend distance. Just now, we are nearly 6000 miles away from Japan and the wall-line C course at Meihan Sportsland, but if it wasn’t for the impossibly green rolling hills and the on-and-off light layer of mist that seems to be so characteristic of Ireland, we could be fooled otherwise.

It was just two days ago that we set off from our home in England with a group of friends and drift cars in tow at the invitation of the good lads of Juicebox to attend the TanoshiDori street-style drifting event.

For those who are unfamiliar, which I’m guessing is more than a few of you, Juicebox was started by Neil Sheehan in the early 2000s as a love project. The website was born as a way to share and document the lesser-known Irish street car scene. But over the last 20 odd years, Juicebox has become an archival treasure trove of everything JDM-coded. More importantly, it became a coven to the community and those, like us, who care about the culture it tries to preserve.
