Denis Jenkinson – DSJ to the readers, Jenks to his friends – inspired and entertained generations of enthusiasts. Jenks, wandering Europe from race circuit to race circuit in a series of 356 Porsches and later E-type Jaguars, lived a fantasy life beyond our wildest dreams in Australia, seemingly a world away.

His regular Letter from Europe and Continental Notes in Motor Sport was mandatory reading during the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies. For me, discovering Denis Jenkinson meant instantly finding a hero.
