My first car review

This is my first press car. I cannot express adequately what this moment means to me. I’ve worked hard to realise my dream of becoming a full-time motoring journalist, including having my work published here. But to see a brand new car roll up outside my house, hot off a major manufacturer’s press fleet, specifically for me to review… well that felt like perhaps the biggest step yet, not least when the only thing to which I have to compare it is my antique Peugeot 107.

Andrew tells me he still remembers as if it were yesterday the first press car he ever drove, even though it was about two hundred years ago. If you’re lucky enough for this moment to come, it never really goes.

But the Kia Picanto wasn’t there just to take me from place to place rather more comfortably, quietly and reliably than usual, but for me to road test. So I have. Below, then, is my first ever car review. I didn’t crash, so hopefully it won’t also be my last.
