‘Rules are for the interpretation of wise men and the obedience of fools.’ So said the great Colin Chapman, and after the closest fought World Championship battle in nearly a decade a new rulebook means it’s all going to change in 2022… Or is it?

The new regulations were supposed to come in for the start of this year, meaning Covid has provided all the teams with an additional 12 months of thinking time to understand what they’ve got to create and, crucially, to look for those loopholes through which the likes of Chapman would dive without a backward glance.
