Embargoed: Today’s feature goes live at 13:00 BST

Today’s first drive story of the new Porsche 911 GT3 S/C by Gez Medinger will be published when the embargo lifts at 13:00 BST.

That is a time and date set by Porsche, acceptance of which was a condition of flying to Germany and driving the car. Like almost all OEMs and, indeed, government departments, car manufacturers use embargoes and sensible media abide by them, because rare is the story that’s so important it’s worth being struck off the invite list for future events. They impose them in the name of fairness, ensuring most media get to publish at the same time. It also cuts down the number of calls they get from outraged editors.

Embargoes are like Balance of Performance rules in motor racing: no one really likes them, but most accept them for the necessary evils they usually are. So please check back with us at lunchtime to read Gez’s verdict on the new 911 GT3 S/C. And, as ever, please let us know what think in your usual, constructive way. This job would not be half as interesting or fun without you.
