The car museum with a twist

Nicky Coates and I were great childhood friends. We did everything together, fuelled by Alphabetti spaghetti on toasted slabs of buttered white bread...

Geek Out! Kicks like a mule

What, in automotive terms, is a mule? How do they get that way? And why does Richard Porter harbour undying love for them? Read on…

We are delighted to announce that Jim Holder is joining the Ti stable of writers with a new fortnightly column launching tomorrow, looking beyond the official communications of the world’s car companies, and revealing what’s actually going on behind the scenes.

There could be no one better for the job: a former editor of Autocar and What Car? and for eight years the Editorial Director of Haymarket Automotive overseeing not just these brands but Classic & Sports Car and PistonHeads too, Jim’s knowledge of and contacts within the industry are second to none. He’s a proper enthusiast, too, with stints as Deputy Editor of Autosport and Editor of Motorsport News under his belt.

Please welcome Jim Holder to The Intercooler

His new column, available only on the Ti app and website, will be called ‘In Confidence’ and will provide the most insightful news and opinion in his wonderfully accessible prose. He will be happy to ruffle feathers when required and use his knowledge and experience not only to tell you what’s happening backstage, but why it’s important and what’s likely to happen next. We are delighted that such a vastly admired and respected writer and editor has chosen to join the team.

His appointment further bolsters our contention that The Intercooler has the finest writer line up of any automotive publication anywhere in the world. Jim joins not merely Ti’s founders Andrew Frankel and Dan Prosser, but journalists of the calibre of Henry Catchpole, Steve Sutcliffe, Andrew English, Colin Goodwin and Gavin Green, industry legends Mel Nichols and Peter Robinson, F1 pundits Karun Chandhok and Edd Straw, ace engineers David Twohig and Joana Fidalgo and world renowned designers Ian Callum and Julian Thomson.
