Ford Puma Gen-E review

This is not a story I intended to write. And in some ways you may consider it an unfair one too as the ‘competition’ I’ve chosen for the new Ford Puma Gen-E is no kind of competition at all. Not only is it eight years old, it’s widely acknowledged to be the best car of its kind that existed in its day, so much so that it’s also owned by me.

Can I be truly objective when comparing a car I’ve chosen, driven for years and know as well as I’ve known any car, to one that turned up last week and will likely be gone before you read this? Honestly? Probably not.

Nor is this intended to be a demolition job of this particular car, though at times I fear it may read like one, nor is it a lengthy diatribe about the limitations of electric cars because, first, I think we’ve all read enough of those and, second, when manufacturers get EVs right, at Ti we lose not one moment in saying so. For evidence of this I’d refer you to our recent comparison of the Renault 5 and Fiat Grande Panda.
