What’s it like?
I don’t know, it’s dark outside. I can’t even see the pen I’ve just dropped. Clamber in and with capable hands at the wheel I’m a passenger as we slip past sporadically-lit windows dotting the hillsides in Mijas, Andalusia. Flat-six growling, those hybrid turbos as dormant as the barely-woken locals.
What’s it like?
Still don’t know. The southern Spanish route for this launch consists of driving to the Ascari resort race circuit in the coupé, lapping, eating lunch, yakking with engineers and then schlepping back in the cabrio – nice work if you can get it.
Actually I’ve never actually met anyone who’s driven Ascari on their own coin, but it’s a pretty good facility for car launches, lots of different corners modelled on more famous equivalents from tracks around the world, at 3.37 miles it’s pretty long and most importantly, lots of run-off.
