Twenty years ago the last of the original Minis wheezed its way off the Longbridge line, bringing to an end 41 years of production. In that time the Mini became the best-selling car this country has ever produced. It won the Monte Carlo Rally three times and only didn’t win a fourth in 1966 because the entire team was disqualified for having the wrong headlamp bulbs. Oddly enough this ensured a French car would win.
