Dear Goodwin,
I’m pretty sure I know how this one’s going to go, my old friend, and I know we are unlikely to concur. Again. But let’s have the banter anyway, and I shall attempt to show you where and why you are wrong.
Because I know you think all levels of driving ability can be taught given the right teacher and pupil combination, correct? You will most likely tell me all about the Winfield Racing School you attended back in the day, and probably point out that until we did that guest race in the TVR Tuscan Challenge, you and I were broadly on the same level (which is not true: I’ve never been anything like as talented as you at ‘getting away with it’). At some point you may even use Damon Hill as an example of someone who learned their way into becoming F1 World Champion, and not for one moment will I disagree about Damo’s mighty achievement.
