What connects the Lotus 49 F1 car that won the 1967 Dutch Grand Prix 54 years ago today to the Bentley EXP Speed 8 sports car used for testing prior to its return to Le Mans in 2001? Answer: both had the same engine. Extraordinary though it seems, the Ford Cosworth DFV that won on its debut 54 years ago was still in use, albeit stretched, highly modified and renamed DFR, in the 21st century. It was, is and, I am sure, will always remain the greatest race motor of all.
