Ian Callum
Designer
Ian Callum knew he wanted to design from a very young age. His passion for cars and design led him to the Ford Design Studios where he contributed to the creation of the Escort RS Cosworth and the Ghia Via Concept. He then took on the role of chief designer at TWR Design, where he was responsible for the Aston Martin DB7, Vanquish and DB9.
Joining Jaguar in 1999 as Director of Design, Callum’s main objective was to modernise the brand and to create a new design language. He contributed to and directed the design of many concepts and production cars such as the C-X75, F-Type, F-PACE and finally the I-PACE, the first electric Jaguar.
Callum left Jaguar in 2019, becoming one of the founders of CALLUM, a design and engineering business to create bespoke and limited-edition products. The team’s first creation was the Aston Martin CALLUM Vanquish 25. CALLUM, the company, continues to design and build an eclectic mix of cars and products for clients worldwide.
Callum has a collection of what he describes as ‘cars he has always wanted’, ranging from a classic Mini through to an Aston Martin Vanquish S. Most of them have been modified in some way as he believes anything can be made to work and look better.
First car:
A Volvo PV544, bought from designer Peter Stevens. It was customised hot-rod style
