Breakthrough: The MacPherson strut

Compact, cheap and effective, the MacPherson strut sparked a suspension revolution. But that may be all about to change, says David Twohig

How to solve the Andretti problem

An 11th team in F1? Inevitably, it all comes down to money… Karun Chandhok explains why the incumbents are putting up a fight, and what could be done to resolve it

We wanted to let you know we’re going to start trialling a new feature today. The good news is that it’s completely free and all it requires is for you to log onto Twitter and follow our account (@_theintercooler), so you’ll forever after be in on the game.

Called ‘Ask The Intercooler’, it is exactly as described. At 7pm this evening (Wednesday) we will send out a tweet inviting you to ask us anything you like, so long as it has at least something to do with cars. And, for an hour, one or more of us – today I’ll be in the hot seat – will do their very best to answer as many as possible. If lots of you get involved and if my head doesn’t explode with the effort, we’ll do it again in a fortnight and so on for as long as there’s a decent demand. If not we’ll pretend it never happened.

You can ask sensible questions, silly questions, questions about cars, car culture, car people, car racing, old cars, new cars, future cars, The Intercooler, motoring journalism in general, motoring journalists in particular and anything else you can think of. Make sure to tag @_theintercooler and use the hashtag #asktheintercooler

Look forward to hearing from you later.
