There is always a frisson of excitement that comes every time you drive a new Alpina, and it’s been that way over all the years I’ve been doing it. It’s got nothing to do with power or performance. It’s that almost perverse pleasure they derive from being different, not just to cars from rival manufacturers, but the BMWs on which they are based. Softer, subtler, more intriguing and, so often, more satisfying too. And this new B3 seems no different.
