‘The bravest man I knew’

A unique insight into the character of Donald Campbell from the man who managed his Land Speed Record attempt, remembered by his son, Gavin Green

Our Cars: Audi S e-tron GT

Bored with long-term reports that bang on endlessly about all that’s good about the car in question? Then you may find Dan Prosser’s latest of interest

A year ago today we launched The Intercooler app. Our podcast and Instagram presence were already well established, but the launch of the app on April 26 was something of a turning point for Ti, which from that day onwards became a properly structured media title rather than a side gig for me and Andrew.

We’d put together what we reckoned was the finest team of automotive writers anywhere in the world. (We’ve since added superstar designer Ian Callum to our roster, meaning you’ll now have an even harder time convincing us otherwise.) But I’m not writing this piece to look backwards, because all of us at Ti are looking unwaveringly into the future. There’s a huge amount happening.

Overrated: TVR Cerbera

This is the car that promised everything and then went on to deliver it too. Just not nearly enough of the time, as Steve Sutcliffe remembers all too well

The hills are alive…

Want to introduce your partner to classic motoring? A trip to the pub perhaps. Unless you’re Gez Medinger, for whom nothing less than 2000 miles to the Austrian Alps and back would do

The dark mode feature that many of you have asked for is now active (you may need to update your app in the App Store before you’ll see this option in the Settings page) and in the coming weeks we’ll launch our brand new, very beautiful website. The app will live on, but you’ll now be able to read our articles on a computer or laptop as well as a mobile device. You will also be able to create a commenting profile, making it easier for us all to interact with one another in the comments beneath each article.

The website will improve the reading experience enormously, I’m sure, and we’re working with a brilliant web design agency that understands implicitly what The Intercooler stands for. Our newfound web presence will also make our ever expanding back catalogue of brilliant written work even more accessible.

As we continue to record weekly podcasts that will remain freely available to anybody who wants to listen, we’re busy working on a new guest-based podcast series that will give you a real insight into the lives of some of the biggest names in the automotive world and beyond. How big? I’m talking Knights of the Realm, Lords, racing heroes, legends of car design and more. This new podcast series will sit behind The Intercooler paywall as an added benefit for subscribers.

Behind the scenes, we’ve recently recruited a brilliant social media and digital marketing specialist who’ll help us elevate everything we do across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, on the podcast and on YouTube as well.

As I hope you can tell, all of this is a tremendously big deal for us and the next step in turning The Intercooler into a world-class automotive media title. We will of course let you all know when the website will go live. In the meantime, do let us know in the comments what you’d like to see more or less of, and please tell your car-loving friends all about us – they’re not going to want to miss out on what’s coming.

One more thing – many, many thanks to all of you for your invaluable support so far. We wouldn’t be able to do any of this without you.
