Our Cars: Au revoir Alpine

Does Dan Prosser want to see the back of his beloved Alpine A110? He does not, but he’s going to and it’s all down to one small lever, or the lack thereof

How to murder a Ghost

How’s this for a headline in a press release? ‘Infinity lemniscate symbol continues to codify noir expression of Rolls-Royce’. Nope, me neither. I can’t remember when I last went...

On 10 August, The Intercooler will be back at Bicester Heritage where we look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. But this isn’t a Sunday Scramble (not least because the 10th will be a Saturday). Instead, it’s PistonHeads’ Annual Service, a gathering of several thousand car enthusiasts and dozens of exhibitors with hundreds of cars on display. It should be a fun day.

Click here to find out more about the event. Tickets cost £20 each, but if you use the discount code Ti10 you’ll get 10 per cent off.

This will be the fourth time we’ve exhibited at Bicester Heritage. Each time so far we’ve managed to bring together several very special cars indeed (some said our display of every Ultimate Series McLaren, including an F1, at the last Sunday Scramble in April was the best in show), all of which means we have a reputation to live up to. The solution? Team up with our brilliant friends at Girardo & Co. and make it their problem instead.

Team work

A few weeks back I met former professional sailor Hannah White during an event at the Williams F1 factory. One of the first things she asked me was...

The Welshman who saved Ford

Sir Jackie Stewart reckons that, of all the world’s roads, a 65-mile loop in Scotland is the best place to evaluate cars. ‘It condenses so many varied conditions and surfaces into a short distance...'

Expect good cars and great company

Max Girardo will join Dan and Andrew on stage

The transporter is booked and in the next couple of weeks we’ll agree between us which four or five cars will be loaded onto it early on the morning of the 10th. I suspect the cars will all be red, very beautiful and extremely valuable, but nothing has been decided yet.

Better still, Max Girardo will be joining us on stage in front of a live audience to record a podcast. We’ll be asking him about his distinguished career in the classic car industry during which he’s bought and sold many of the world’s rarest and most valuable cars. Another of our good friends, Jonny Smith of The Late Brake Show, will be on stage during the day too, among others.

If you’re going to be there, please swing by the stage to nod sagely at all the interesting things we have to say and laugh loudly at our jokes. Your support, as ever, is greatly appreciated.
