Life on the line

Car manufacturing: an odd thing with which to fall in love, I grant you. I didn’t expect it either. But the moment remains seared on my brain and there it will stay.

It starts with me perched on the mezzanine floor of the assembly hall, blaring horns above me signalling playtime is over. A hive of hundreds of identically uniformed workers swarm from the break rooms, leaving coffee cups and newspapers behind. Steel-toed shoes thud on metal staircases, moving with speed and purpose.
