I recently described the sensation of driving the 1982 Le Mans-winning Porsche 956 at Goodwood but, ridiculous as it sounds, that was actually the amuse bouche of my weekend with Porsche’s Group C cars at the 79th Members’ Meeting.

For on the Saturday evening there was to be a high-speed demonstration by 18 Group C Porsches in which I was down to drive not the 1982 Le Mans winner, but the 1987 winner. The last Group C Porsche to win Le Mans, rather than the first. A works Rothmans 962C. I know.
