I am very pleased to say The Intercooler has partnered with PistonHeads, the largest online group of car enthusiasts in the UK. Throughout 2024 we will be working together to produce ever-better written stories and podcast segments for Ti subscribers and listeners. We’re also looking forward to being part of PistonHeads’ annual summer gathering at Bicester Heritage in August.

It comes as PistonHeads launches its online auction platform for premium, performance and collectible cars. Auctions of this type are becoming increasingly popular in the automotive world – they work brilliantly for buyers, who know they haven’t overpaid for a car, and they work well for sellers too, because they know their car won’t be up for sale for some indeterminate amount of time. For everyone else, auctions allow us to see exactly how much a particular car is worth, as determined by the market.

The PistonHeads audience is vast, meaning consignments have every chance of achieving their true value. As I write, there’s a (relatively) low mileage Series 1 Lotus Elise live on the platform, with a 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI Tommy Mäkinen Edition due to go live on Saturday. It’ll also be fascinating to see what the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato sells for a couple of weeks from now. A greater volume of cars will appear on the platform in the coming weeks and months.

We’ve partnered with PistonHeads

On a personal level, partnering with PistonHeads is a big deal for me. It was back in 2006 that I was paid for the very first time to write about cars – by PistonHeads. I’ve written for PH on and off ever since and a few years ago I spearheaded its YouTube channel, producing a number of films that I’m still quite proud of.

Working with PistonHeads will also allow us to grow our audience and subscriber base, meaning we can produce more of the kinds of stories that seem to go down so well with all of you. I can’t wait to get started.
