Prologis Park on the outskirts of Coventry is at once interminably dull and completely fascinating. In amongst the gargantuan DHL, Amazon and LG logistics hubs that ship electronic goods and everyday household items across the region – profoundly uninteresting donkey work, in other words – you will find Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works and Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, or SVO, plus one other, somewhat more secretive department.

While parcels big and small are sorted and loaded onto lorries in the buildings next door, at SVO the fastest, most powerful and most luxurious Jaguar F-types, Land Rover Defenders and Range Rovers, among others, are produced with great care. It’s quite a contrast to shuffling cardboard boxes to and fro.
