‘Could you point that light over here, please?’ Charlie obliges, swinging the beam from his iPhone onto the rows of switches. I turn the key to my right then twist the red kill switch set down low between the seats.

Next is the bit for which I really need the illumination, because I want to make sure I’ve got the correct toggle switches. Ignition. Fuel. Flick. Flick. Suitable noises emanate from the darkness. Then it’s just a press of the slightly dangerous looking red button and…the 309’s engine coughs to life once more.
